5 things to do in Milan this weekend From July 17 to 19

We have finally reached mid-July, and in Milan it is hot. It is that time of year when the city seems almost split in two: those who have already left, leaving empty, silent streets behind them, and those who have stayed in the urban heat. Perhaps this second-to-last weekend of the month can offer the right opportunity to discover a different Milan, slower and more relaxed. This week too, nss's selection of events is here for those who want to make the most of the city before the summer exodus: here, then, are 5 things to do in Milan this weekend.

To Eat - Berberè x Tiki Summer Party

On Sunday 19 July, Berberè will land at Rita's Tiki Room for an event with a summer spirit. The pizzeria will bring to the Tiki Summer Party a special and controversial pizza: spiced pineapple, tomato, Apulian burrata and roasted friggitelli peppers, alongside its unmistakable fried montanarine. The dress code for the event is simple and iconic: swimsuit, sarong and flip-flops.

To Chill - Poliform

Right next to the La Scala theatre, in the former Trussardi building, the Poliform world expands with the opening of the new Poliform Café. Adjoining the flagship store inaugurated this year, the bistrot brings the brand's essential aesthetic to the table as well, with seasonal Italian cuisine and an aperitivo designed to become a new stop in the centre of Milan. An address that brings together furniture, hospitality and lifestyle in the same space.

The Osservatorio Fondazione Prada hosts "The Island", the exhibition by artist and university professor Hito Steyerl. The common thread is "the flood", explored through several interconnected narratives, united by urgent contemporary themes such as climate change, political pressure on the scientific community and the authoritarian drifts fuelled by the use of AI, between quantum physics and science fiction.

To Shop - La libreria del Convegno

Stepping into the Libreria del Convegno feels like coming home. This small independent bookshop is filled with books of every genre, as well as being a meeting place for exchange and conversation. A few metres from Città Studi, it is a neighbourhood gem that over the years has built a true community, thanks in part to the three book clubs it runs.
