5 things to do in Milan this weekend From October 9 to 11

With autumn now in full swing, Milan is beginning to show its more intimate side. The cooler weather has arrived, and so it's time to go back to exploring museums and exhibitions, seeking out indoor spots to spend time together and leaving the grey skies outside in search of some colour around the city. It seems like the perfect moment to discover a new corner of it — here are our suggestions for 5 things to do this weekend.

To Eat - Dumbo Paris

Following its opening in London and a pop-up at Mercato Isola, on Saturday 10 October the first Italian location of DUMBO opens in Porta Venezia — the Parisian smashburger joint founded in 2019 by Charles Ganem and Samuel Nataf in Pigalle. The menu features meat sourced from Italian producers, potato buns, American cheese, house-made nuggets, fries, a vegetarian burger, and a cookie developed with Mamiche. The space, designed with Rodaa Studio, is a small room with wood and green marble, featuring an open kitchen. Open every day, for lunch and dinner.

To Chill - Futura Milano

Futura has just reopened with a new location on Via Corsico, a short walk from the Darsena. The listening bar run by the three members of the Futura Lab collective was born on Viale Gorizia, modelled on Japanese jazz kissa, placing sound quality, drinks, and socialising on an equal footing. Futura maintains a more intimate and contemporary feel, with natural wines and a DJ set programme that moves primarily through electronic, house, and related sounds.

To Discover - Carla Cerati @ Palazzo Reale

Palazzo Reale is hosting Plurale femminile. Fotografia e scrittura, 1926-2026, a retrospective dedicated to Carla Cerati on the centenary of her birth and ten years after her passing. Born in Bergamo and adopted by Milan, Cerati photographed the city's transformations for over fifty years, from bourgeois drawing rooms to the psychiatric institutions she documented alongside Franco Basaglia in Morire di classe. The approximately two hundred images on display, curated by Giovanna Calvenzi, Elena Ceratti, and Mariateresa Cerretelli, bring together the photographer and the writer, and the exhibition closes with original documents and videos in which her voice can be heard.

Piazza del Duomo, 12

To Shop - Menta Studio

Opened in September, MENTA is the project of Gilda Bevilacqua, known online as @gildasway, dedicated to flowers, plants, and installations. The space approaches floral composition with a highly visual sensibility, working with bouquets, seasonal colours, and arrangements — bringing to the Navigli area a vision of the contemporary, independent florist, along with the artistic flair of its founder, who has worked in set design and production design for video and fashion film projects, including campaigns for brands such as Salvatore Ferragamo.

Ripa di Porta Ticinese, 99

To Party - Nothing Cool @ Apollo

On Saturday 10 October, Nothing Cool returns to the Navigli, having reopened its season in September in the backroom of Apollo. This time the guests are coming from Paris: behind the decks are Saverio and Jeremy Weizman, the names behind Revival and Mishmish, two of the parties that have shaped the most recognisable Parisian nightlife in recent years. Dancing to house and electro from midnight until four-thirty, entry is for ages 18 and over. Tickets available on DICE.
