With one week to go until Halloween, Milan still seems to have plenty on its agenda before making way for the end-of-month celebrations. On October 24th and 25th, the city moves between recent gastronomic openings, fairs dedicated to both sneakers and the outdoors, and electronic music. This weekend offers more than one good reason to get out of the house, even as temperatures begin to drop. Here are our five things to do in Milan this weekend.
To Eat – PULLED pop-up @ Mercato Isola
Straight from Turin, PULLED has arrived in Milan with a pop-up inside Mercato Isola, in Piazzale Lagosta. The star of the show is pulled pork, slow-cooked for twelve hours and shredded, served inside soft potato buns. The menu focuses on two sandwiches: the Original, with coleslaw and barbecue sauce, and the Yankee, with pickles, bacon jam and house sauce.
To Chill – Vigna
Just a short walk from Sant'Ambrogio, Vigna has opened its doors — a new neighbourhood wine bar designed for those who love drinking well without too much fuss. The selection features around 200 labels on the list, plus more than 2,000 bottles from the Dives cellar, available on request with 48 hours' notice. The by-the-glass offering changes frequently, while the food menu is born from collaborations with producer and chef friends.
To Discover – Italian Outdoor Festival
For two days, October 24th and 25th, the mountains come to Milan. Idroscalo hosts the Italian Running and Outdoor Festival, an event dedicated to enthusiasts of running, climbing, hiking and mountaineering. The programme includes workshops, talks, screenings, product testing and sporting activities, from community runs to climbing contests. Entry is free with registration.
To Shop – Sneakerness
On October 24th and 25th, Parco Esposizioni Novegro once again becomes the meeting point for sneaker culture with a new edition of Sneakerness. Born in Zurich and now a travelling fixture in major European cities, the event brings together collectors, resellers, independent stores and brands in a space dedicated to rare sneakers, streetwear, memorabilia and collectibles. Across the stalls, buying, selling and trading all take place, with DJ sets, food trucks and special activations rounding out the programme.
To Party – Le Cannibale @ PAC Milano
On Saturday October 24th, Le Cannibale brings Refuge Worldwide to the PAC in Milan — the Berlin radio station dedicated to electronic music and underground culture. Behind the decks are Fatima Koanda, an Italian DJ of Burkinabé and Ivorian heritage, and LIL JA, a Stockholm-born DJ based in Berlin, with sets ranging across breakbeat, bass, deep house and electronic experimentation. During the evening, visitors will also be able to explore RI-SCATTI. Prima che sia notte, a photography exhibition dedicated to the stories of migrant and refugee women.
