Halloween is one of those occasions when Milan stops taking itself too seriously, at least for a weekend. This year, October 31st falls on a Saturday, making the idea of spending the night of the dead out and about the city even more appealing. Even for those who have no intention of dressing up, the weekend offers plenty of opportunities to break out of the usual routine, with new openings, cult cinema screenings and events dedicated to underground culture. Here are our five things to do in Milan this weekend.
To Eat – Fainà
A little corner of Liguria in the heart of Milan, celebrating Halloween in its own way. On Friday, October 30th, Fainà, the first fast food restaurant dedicated to Ligurian cuisine, brings back Fainà Festa, an event celebrating the quintessential speciality of Savona: farinata. For the occasion, the venue is hosting a Halloween-themed evening with an open farinata format, from 7pm to 11pm.

To Chill – The Rocky Horror Picture Show @ Cinema Mexico
Among the Milanese traditions worth keeping alive is undoubtedly the one of showing up in costume at Cinema Mexico to watch a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. For over forty years, the historic venue on Via Savona has been home to Jim Sharman's 1975 cult classic. On Friday, October 30th, at 10pm, the film returns to the big screen accompanied by a live performance from the company Diabolical Plan.

To Discover – Never Alone @ Triennale
Before rave culture became a recurring visual reference in contemporary fashion and photography, it was above all a community in motion. On Friday, October 30th, at 7:30pm, photographers Cheyenne Clementi and Valentina Morandi come to Triennale Milano to present Never Alone – Raving in Europe 1997/2004, a volume published by Propaganda/Drago that brings together black-and-white analogue images taken during the years of the European rave and traveller scene.
