Edicola Italiana is conceived as a journey through Italy, bringing together contrasting experiences: from historic newsagents that have stood the test of time for decades to those that, in recent years, have found new ways to reinvent themselves, transforming into hybrid spaces that blend retail, culture and social interaction.
The narrative unfolds through a blend of archive images and contemporary works, accompanied by texts and editorial reflections penned by some of the most prominent figures in Italian publishing, such as Beppe Cottafavi and Lucy. Sulla Cultura. Together, they construct a narrative that seeks to interpret the newsagent’s as a cultural institution, exploring its sociological significance yesterday, today and tomorrow.
